“Milan changed a huge amount this summer and we Inter fans know full well how long it can take for things to get on the right track,” Facchetti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Milan changed a huge amount this summer and we Inter fans know full well how long it can take for things to get on the right track,” Facchetti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“In a bid to make the most of the new buys, they have forgotten some of the ‘old’ players who got them back into Europe. Giving the captain’s armband to Leonardo Bonucci showed a lack of respect to the others who had already been there.
“The credibility of Milan’s entire project is at stake. It’s true we are only at the start of the season, but if they were to lose four out of the first eight games… This means they will be playing under immense pressure and need the performance of a lifetime.
“We must in turn be just as fired up, to prove we deserve to be this far above them. I predict a 2-1 Inter victory with goals from Milan Skriniar and Mauro Icardi.”
While the Rossoneri have been transformed, Inter largely kept the same squad, but introduced ex-Roma tactician Luciano Spalletti.
“Spalletti was practically made for this club, he is the right man in the right place. Aside from his hard work, the way he communicates and remembers these moments are elements that made me love him even before the results started coming in. He understood the ‘hunger’ and necessity to make it feel like a family. This Inter is more solid and united, with a Coach pushing them beyond their limits.
“It might not be champagne football, but Inter do have an identity now and know how to defend when they have to. A positive season is constructed on top of a good defence.”
