FIGC commissioner Roberto Fabbricini confirms Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti, Claudio Ranieri and Roberto Mancini are the candidates for Italy CT.

Giampiero Ventura was fired after failing to take the Azzurri for the World Cup, and Carlo Tavecchio, the head of the Federation resigned.

That left the FIGC with no President, making it difficult to appoint a replacement for Ventura.

After elections this week failed to return a new President, CONI appointed Fabbricini as commissioner for at least six months.

“The names are the ones you know,” the new FIGC head confirmed to reporters after his appointment.

“Mancini was in Rome but we didn’t contact him, Conte seems eager to wear Azzurro again, Ancelotti opens and closes the door and Ranieri isn’t out either.

“There’s no-one in pole position, we have to evaluate the pros and cons.

“We also have to evaluate the availability of the Federation, and explain to those who will come after us that there will be new governance.

“Now though we’ll evaluate what to do, along with [sub-commissioner Alessandro] Costacurta.”
