The lawyer who tried to sue Mario Balotelli for rape is facing his own trial for attempted extortion of the striker, as he was caught on tape saying the case would buy him two Ferraris.

Balotelli has confirmed he had relations with the girl, but has always assured they were entirely consensual.

So when lawyer Roberto Imparato contacted the player and asked for €100,000 to make the allegations go away, Balotelli immediately went to the police to report the attempted extortion.

This allowed police to wiretap the lawyer’s phone, which provided ample evidence of their attempts to essentially blackmail Balotelli.

Now the Adana Demirspor player is suing Imparato for €150,000 in damages and the trial begins today in Vicenza.

The wiretaps will be a key part of the evidence against 66-year-old lawyer Imparato, who was caught on tape telling associates he had recorded 20 minutes of a conversation with Balotelli.

“I want a yellow Ferrari and a blue one. The girl is a born actress. At the end of the day, Balotelli is a bit pitiful.”

The incidents occurred between October 2017 and January 2018.
