Former Udinese and Siena midfielder Roman Eremenko has been suspended from football for two years after testing positive for cocaine.

UEFA’s decision to ban Eremenko stems from a drug test that he underwent after CSKA Moscow’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Bayer Leverkusen on September 14, in which the midfielder scored the Russians’ equaliser.

A statement on its website confirms the analysis of the 29-year-old’s A sample “revealed the presence of cocaine and its metabolites”.
