Former Lazio and Atalanta wingback Lionel Scaloni has been confirmed as Argentina’s caretaker Coach.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) wrote in a statement that Scaloni would take charge of the country’s upcoming friendlies against Guatemala and Colombia next month.

It marks the first senior position for the 40-year-old, who had been Jorge Sampaoli’s assistant at Sevilla and with the Albiceleste.

One of his two assistants will be Pablo Aimar, best known for his spells with Valencia and Benfica.
