Everton manager Sam Allardyce confirmed Davy Klaassen will be loaned out, so negotiations are progressing with Napoli.

The Partenopei had already wanted the midfielder when he was at Ajax, but opted for Everton at a cost of €27m last summer.

It proved a bad decision, as he has struggled in the Premier League and hasn’t even played since September.

“Because he has never appeared on the subs bench, it would be better benefit for him and the club if he moved on just on loan,” Allardyce told reporters.

“He is quite willing to sit and stay and fight for his place, but at this moment he is better going out and playing some football. I think that would benefit him and give him the opportunity to play.”

However, Allardyce pointed out it will only be a loan without an obligation to buy, although Napoli could secure an option.

“Because maybe next season he might be good enough. You look how many players don’t make it in their first season from abroad. There are hundreds and hundreds of them. And at every club. Given a full pre-season and then you wait and see.”

It's reported Napoli are open to the loan, but it might be a little late to work out personal terms, especially if there's an option to buy.

The Dutch midfielder had also been offered to Inter, but they weren't interested.
