The Cameroon international was being linked with a San Siro return after being made available for transfer by Anzhi.

“Inter were never really there,” agent Claudio Vigorelli told Tuttosport.

“Had Samuel not signed for Chelsea then he would have probably accepted a very rich offer to go and play in Qatar.

“However, [Chelsea boss Jose] Mourinho decided to accelerate for him and we did the deal.”

The 32-year-old, who played under Mourinho with the Beneamata, spent two seasons with the Italian club before leaving for Anzhi in 2011.

Eto’o, who grabbed 33 goals in 67 League games in Italy, signed a one-year deal with the London club on August 29.
