But, despite the sale of Giampaolo Pazzini, it was decided that the former Primavera ace would be sent to Spain.

“I left Inter to gain experience and I wanted to play with a certain amount of consistency,” the forward told FC Inter News.

“It was all agreed in a calm manner, in total agreement with Inter and with my agent.

“I had a good summer at Inter and fitted in well alongside some excellent teammates under a great Coach, then, at the end of August, a different decision was made.

“I think it was the right choice.”

Longo, still just 20, scored on his Espanyol debut.

The Beneamata also sent Philippe Coutinho to the Barcelona-based club for part of last season before recalling him during the summer.
