Napoli are reportedly hoping to renew with captain Lorenzo Insigne when he returns from his duties with Italy at Euro 2020.

Il Corriere dello Sport claims the Partenopei are hoping to sign a new deal with their captain this summer, as his current deal expires in June 2022.

The rumours regarding Insigne’s future has pushed the Azzurri to act and the newspaper believes patron Aurelio De Laurentiis is ready to offer Insigne a new deal immediately after the European Championship.

The player confirmed he will address his own future after the competition and Napoli will do everything to not lose the player on a free transfer next year.

The newspaper reports Insigne and new coach Luciano Spalletti have spoken over the phone and the parties are united by the desire to continue together.

The 30-year-old has played 397 competitive games with the Partenopei over the last 11 years, contributing 109 goals in the process, and is not willing to reduce his salary at the Stadio Diego Maradona.

Patron De Laurentiis, on the other hand, is not willing to give up on the image rights, and the two parties will sit down to negotiate after Euro 2020.
