Romelu Lukaku scored a second-half brace to give the home side a 3-1 lead, before Nacer Chadli’s own goal brought the Danes back into the game.

“We can learn a lot from Belgium’s cynicism,” Eriksen told Kanal 5. “If you want to get to a certain level, you have to have cynicism to decide games.

“That’s something we miss.”

But the Inter midfielder said Denmark are on ‘the right path’ under CT Kasper Hjulmand.

“It has still been an exciting year since Hjulmand took over. There are obviously a lot of new things we’re learning, but I really think we’re doing a good deal of what he would like from us.

“Now, we just need more results, but we are on the right path.”

Denmark ended second in the group, beating third-placed England on goal difference as Iceland finished bottom with six defeats in six games.
