All 20 Premier League clubs have been working on an initiative entitled ‘Project Restart’ in recent weeks, with the aim of ensuring this season’s fixtures are fulfilled.

Now, the UK government has confirmed that ‘cultural and sporting events behind closed-doors for broadcast’ can take place on June 1, as part of the next step of its pandemic response.

However, it stressed that the date of June 1 was ‘subject to conditions being satisfied’ with regards to its ‘five tests’ that measure the rate of coronavirus spreading in the country.

Premier League sides have been holding individual training sessions since the end of April but are still not allowed to work in large groups.
