Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi reiterates Serie B wants to complete the season in August, but Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora ‘seems to hate football.’

The accusation comes after Spadafora stated again this morning that the Government is ready to declare an end to the football season unless a new medical protocol can be agreed.

“I am disappointed by what is happening in Italy, and I am referring to Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and Minister for Sport Spadafora,” Corsi told Itasportpress.

“It seems to me as if the latter hates football and he cannot afford to do that, seeing as football finances all the other sport in this country. We ought to get back to playing, even if it means July and August, and I am perfectly in sync with FIGC President Gabriele Gravina and Lega Serie B President Mauro Balata.

“All the other leagues are ready to resume with protocols to be applied in case of contagion. Here we are all waiting for money to somehow magically fall from the sky.

“As my friend (Monza CEO) Adriano Galliani says, if we close our season early, our European competitors will enjoy a huge advantage over the Italian product and we’ll end up showing bar tournaments in July…

“The TV rights companies have already requested a discount from the clubs. The economic impact would be immense and some sides would run very serious risks of going under.”
