The Milan man was clinical upfront alongside Giuseppe De Luca and Ciro Immobile in putting seven past a poor Lichtenstein without response for the Azzurrini in a European Championship 2013 qualifier.
“My relationship with Coach [Devis] Mangia has immediately kicked off very well. Today we played a great game, well managed, and I am delighted to have scored my first two goals for the national team,” he told reporters after the match.
The ‘Little Pharaoh’ was left out of Cesare Prandelli’s senior squad to face Bulgaria tomorrow night, but is content to have made his debut last month against England in Switzerland.
