Roma are reportedly keen to extend Edin Dzeko’s contract by a year, amid interest from MLS side Los Angeles FC.

The Bosnian was Capocannoniere in Serie A last year, and has 24 goals in all competitions this season – including eight in 12 Champions League games.

Though he’s 32 and his contract runs until 2020, the Gazzetta della Sport believes his entourage have floated the idea of extending that by a year.

The idea would be to spread his €4.5m per season contract over three years instead of two, with performance-related bonuses.

That’s an attractive idea for the Giallorossi as they’d save money on Dzeko’s basic salary, only having to pay out if he’s performing on the pitch.

Another incentive for the Lupi to renew is that Los Angeles FC are trying to tempt the striker to MLS.

The new franchise need a big name signing to compete with city rivals LA Galaxy, and could move out a current Designated Player to sign Dzeko.

However, it remains far more likely that the former Manchester City man will remain in Rome.
