Now RTV Rijnmond back up that story by insisting Manchester United were never serious contenders for the centre-back.
“Manchester United have repeatedly been linked with De Vrij, but the only team to have shown real interest is Lazio.
“United do not want to sign the 22-year-old. There is one English club who could make an offer and that is Southampton, managed by ex-Feyenoord Coach Ronald Koeman.
“However, at the moment we do not have reports of any contact.”
