Inter midfielder Alfred Duncan admits he is “flattered” with Sunderland’s interest after a wonderful season at Livorno.

The 20-year-old Ghanaian was expected to return to base after notching up 19 Serie B games since joining Livorno on loan in January.

He helped the Amaranto to promotion and has been linked with Paolo Di Canio’s Sunderland.

“I am flattered by the interest of Sunderland,” he told Sky Sports.

“I know the scout of Sunderland has been watching me. To be honest, though, nothing has been done and Inter will have a big say if I leave Inter or not.

“Fans compare me with Michael Essien and if I can have half of his career I will be very happy.

“He is the best midfielder ever in Ghana. He played box-to-box, could break play up and could dictate play at the same time.”
