“It’s satisfying that we put in a strong performance even with 10 men, but the result was a little harsh. It’s also true in the first half we lacked the grit and determination we showed after the break,” he told Sky Sport Italia after a 2-1 defeat.
“We went 2-0 down and that made it a complicated situation, but the reaction was excellent and it’s never easy for anyone in this stadium.
“This game has to teach us what it means to face teams like Juventus and if we put our characteristics at the forefront then we can cause anyone problems.”
Donadoni was seen talking to referee Banti after the final whistle, as there were last-gasp penalty appeals for a Leonardo Bonucci challenge on Marco Parolo.
“I am proud of what the lads did, but the rest is not up to me. We can sit here discussing it for as long as we like, but it won’t change anything.
“There are three matches this week, so we can’t waste energy in pointless controversy. Ex-players like me know there is a certain smartness required on the field and it has to be judged in a split-second, so it’s not simple.”
Parma’s club record 17-match unbeaten run has come to an end, but they are still in sixth place.
“If I said we didn’t have an objective, it’d be like me saying I wanted to sell vegetables. We have to continue, game by game, but it won’t change if I now say we want to go into the Europa League or Champions League. We have to rely on facts and we’ll see at the end what those facts are.”
