Roberto Donadoni faces the club that sacked him pre-season and warns Parma they cannot underestimate the importance of today’s game with Cagliari.

The Coach was in Sardinia last term and had started preparations when he was fired in August after a dispute with President Massimo Cellino.

“The squad is made up of the right ingredients, lads who I know and got on with well. They’ll make us sweat for the points, so it’s up to us to have the right attitude. We must all play knowing the individual can be decisive thanks to the work of the group.

“We are in good shape and must face this match with great determination. We are facing a well-drilled opponent, so have to be focused, sharp and patient. When I say patient, I don’t mean playing slowly, but rather keeping the tempo high and interpreting the right moment to strike.”

Parma are four points clear of the relegation zone, while Cagliari are not entirely safe from the drop either.

“I won’t say a win would secure our position beyond doubt, but it would certainly be very important,” continued Donadoni.

“As always, I think the result must come through the performance.”
