Roberto Donadoni reveals he “immediately said yes” when receiving the call to take over at Cagliari.

The former Italy boss has been out of work since Napoli fired him last season, but stepped in to replace Pierpaolo Bisoli today.

“I am happy that Cagliari thought of me and I did feel eager to get back to management,” he said in his Press conference.

“President Massimo Cellino convinced me straight away. He asked if I wanted to come here and I immediately said yes.”

Donadoni has penned a contract to the end of the season with an option for a second term.

“Tomorrow I will meet the team and begin getting to know them. We'll have a chat and in my view all this squad needs is a bit of self-belief.

“We will begin from Bisoli's work, as he gave the side firm foundations. I will gladly call him over the next few days for advice.

“We must start out from the good parts and work on the negative aspects. When I get into a project, I marry it heart and soul.”
