Parma are “turning over a new leaf and looking to the future in a positive way” by hiring Coach Roberto Donadoni, said general manager Pietro Leonardi.

The tactician was brought in today after Franco Colomba’s dismissal and Leonardi explained the reasoning.

“I read that I had made a series of meetings before choosing the new Coach, but instead I have to tell you yesterday morning I only went to see Donadoni and continued talks until 2am.

“During that time, there were many phone calls with President Tommaso Ghirardi, who was crucial in this negotiation process.

“We are turning over a new leaf and looking to the future in a positive way,” said Leonardi in today’s Press conference.

“I promised the President that I would stop using the word ‘project’ when describing Parma, but I wanted to remind people that in these five years under the Ghirardi family they have invested around €30m and another €13m in the other controlling company.

“There are also imminent plans to invest €10m in restructuring the Collecchio training ground.”
