Lazio could be the subject of a FIFA complaint after Liverpool reportedly ‘expressed concern’ over Bobby Adekanye’s transfer.

Adekanye completed a free transfer to Lazio earlier in the week, but the Evening Standard warns Liverpool have alerted FIFA to suspicions the 20-year-old was tapped up.

Players under the age of 23 are not allowed to negotiate pre-contractual agreements with foreign clubs once they enter the final six months of their deals, unlike their senior counterparts.

However, the Dutchman suggested back in March that he had already held talks with the Aquile over a potential move.

The newspaper adds the Reds missed out on a transfer fee for Adekanye, instead receiving just €270,000 for training costs.

It now remains to be seen whether they follow up with a formal complaint to FIFA.
