The Bologna forward was stretchered off in agony during today’s 0-0 draw with Genoa, as he fell awkwardly and Enis Nadarevic accidentally trod on his arm.

Diamanti was taken to hospital for X-Rays and there are fears he has fractured his wrist.

If the diagnosis is confirmed, then he could be forced to pull out of Italy’s Confederations Cup squad.

He was named in the provisional group of players for a get-together, though Coach Cesare Prandelli will then whittle that down for the tournament itself.
