Alessandro Diamanti will fly to Italy this evening to join Palermo, according to reports.

The Italian international left Serie A to join Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande in 2014, but has repeatedly returned to Europe for loan spells with Fiorentina, Watford and Atalanta.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website, the attacking midfielder has now resolved his contract with Guangzhou, so is free to join another club.

It appears certain that his new side will be Palermo, with the website reporting that he’ll arrive in Sicily this evening to sign a two-year contract with an option for a third.

Diamanti has stoked speculation on his Instagram account, posting a picture of himself with a pink car, seemingly a nod to the Rosanero kit.
