After missing the last three games and being involved in a tapping-up row with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Boulaye Dia is back in the Salernitana squad with a potential release clause promise.

The striker had a tumultuous summer, as Salernitana director Morgan De Sanctis confirmed in a press conference that Wolves had approached the player directly without first going through the club, leading to a great deal of tension and unhappiness when the transfer failed to materialise.

The situation then escalated again after Dia went to Senegal for international duty and did not return on schedule.

Dia has not been in the Salernitana squad since the deadline day row, missing games against Lecce, Torino and Frosinone.

It seems as if it has been at least partially resolved, because coach Paulo Sousa has included Dia in the squad for tomorrow’s midweek round Serie A match against Empoli.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, part of the plan for calming Dia is to give him a new contract that includes a €20m release clause that could be used as early as the January transfer window.
