Marco Di Vaio rejected the opportunity of Champions League football with Napoli by staying loyal to Bologna.

The Azzurri approached the veteran in the summer after his goals almost single-handedly kept the Rossoblu in the top flight last season.

Di Vaio, though, showed no interest in leaving an outfit that helped resurrect his career in the summer of 2008.

"Napoli wanted me in the summer," the former Italian international and Juve centre-forward noted to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

"They were preparing for the Champions League and wanted me to join them. I said no because I want to end my career at this club."

Di Vaio, now 35, has only scored one goal in nine League games for the Stadio Dall'Ara outfit so far this term.
