Antonio Di Natale admits he’ll “try to continue” his Udinese career after netting a hat-trick for 193 Serie A goals.
The 36-year-old had announced a few months ago that he would hang up his boots at the end of the season, but an upturn of form and tonight’s 3-3 draw with Sampdoria might’ve changed his mind.
“I am having fun, now I want to go on vacation with my wife after two charity games,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
This was Di Natale’s first Serie A hat-trick since February 2011 and took his career tally to 193 goals in the Italian top flight.
“It’s a shame the season is ending now, as I am in good physical shape and enjoying myself, but we’ll see, I’ll try to continue. I hope to continue.
“At the start the whole team struggled to do what we’d been able to in three years together, but I got 17 goals in the end.”
Di Natale embraced Coach Francesco Guidolin, who has also hinted he could leave the bench to become a director.
“I hope we can continue together, as the Coach gave us so much and he loves the city. It’s a decision he has to make.
“I’ve been here for 10 years and have a great rapport with the fans. I’ve given them everything, they have given me everything and we hope to continue.”
As he’s only seven away from 200 goals, has Di Natale set any other targets?
“Right now I have to try to rest, then we’ll see. I dedicate the hat-trick to my family, my teammates and the Pozzo family, as it’s thanks to them I am here.”
