Udinese ace Antonio Di Natale has revealed that tonight’s opponents Roma have tried and failed to sign him on more than one occasion.

The 34-year-old has been with the Bianconeri since his 2004 switch from Empoli, but he has claimed that he could have signed for the Giallorossi.

“I was close to Roma on two occasions,” the 2010 World Cup player noted. “It was while Luciano Spalletti was in charge of them.

“I have no regrets about not going there though and I’ll happily end my career here at Udinese,” he added.

“The only disappointment that I have in my career is that I was never given a chance to play for Napoli, the team of my heart.”

Di Natale, born in Naples, worked with Spalletti at the Stadio Friuli during the tactician’s spell there before his 2005 switch to the capital.

The striker has a great scoring record in games against Roma. In 18 matches overall, for Empoli and Udinese, he’s scored 10 goals against the Giallorossi.
