Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo talks through that sensational goal against Inter and confirms the extra motivation of setting a new club record.

The Nerazzurri had been able to cancel out the Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa opener with Romelu Lukaku, despite being down to 10 men since Roberto Gagliardini’s second booking at the 41st minute.

That is until Di Lorenzo suddenly curled a magnificent finish with his weaker foot into the far top corner.

“I had space in the final third, Frank gave me the ball and I gave it a go. It went well. We wanted to win and I am happy for the team,” Di Lorenzo told DAZN.

He ran to the touchline in order to celebrate with coach Luciano Spalletti and the players who were still to come on.

“The coach is so important for me and the whole team. I like to celebrate with my teammates on the bench, so that was the dedication for me.”

Inter had defeated Napoli 1-0 at San Siro in January, but this 3-1 result means that the Scudetto winners have managed to defeat all 19 Serie A opponents at least once this season.

It is a record the club had never managed to achieve before.

“We had talked about the fact Inter were the only team we hadn’t beaten, so we wanted to set that record and make these fans happy.”

Di Lorenzo got a tattoo to mark the Scudetto and has said he wants to see out his career at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

“I am happy at Napoli, I don’t need to say it with words, it is clear for all to see.”
