Their qualification is hanging by a thread after the surprise 1-0 defeat to Poland, which saw the Azzurrini dominate and still fail to find a breakthrough.

“Our minds should be focused only on our game, winning even 1-0, but we saw that playing good football and not winning games is fairly futile,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

Italy need to defeat Belgium and hope Spain see off Poland, but not by more than two clear goals.

As the Azzurrini are hosting this competition, failure to even get through to the semi-finals would inevitably lead to Di Biagio’s exit.

“My future is independent of what happens in the competition, we’ll see in July. I have a good rapport with the FIGC President, so we’ll see what happens.”
