But with constant rumours linking him with a switch away, the 32-year-old has claimed that he is happy in Bergamo, but won’t commit to anything more concrete.
“Atalanta forever? I don’t know,” he told L’Eco di Bergamo. “What I do know though is that I will live in Bergamo after my career is done.
“Bergamo has adopted me. I’m happy, and my family is happy to be here.
“I have a contract for another three years, so I’ll stay as long as the club don’t sell me.
“Last season I went through a difficult time in terms of performance – I had some physical problems, but luckily I’m over that now.”
