Fiorentina patron Andrea Della Valle and Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic warn “an era is over. Riccardo Montolivo must give us an answer.”

The 1-1 draw with Bologna was a disappointing end to their home season with jeers from the Stadio Franchi crowd.

“It's not great to play your last home game in that atmosphere, but the reaction is normal considering our second half performance,” said Della Valle.

“It was a dignified season overall, but from next term we can focus on European qualification again. Seeing as Italy have lost a place in the Champions League, it'll have to be the Europa League.

“We will have a lot to do on the transfer market. For some of our players, including the big names, the era is over. Now it's down to our director of sport Pantaleo Corvino to bring in some quality replacements.”

One of those likely to move on is Montolivo, who has so far refused to put pen to paper on a new contract.

“We want an answer from Montolivo as soon as possible. We've done our duty and have made the biggest offer we can afford. We can no longer afford the fifth biggest wage bill in Serie A.

“As for Mihajlovic, the team played well once all the players recovered from injury, so he deserves another chance.”

The Coach also commented on the future of Fiorentina and hinted at big changes.

“We have clear ideas about the future. We are looking for players who want to do well next season. This era is over.”
