“It might not mean much after four rounds, but it is still gratifying to see Sassuolo up there,” said the coach to Sassuolo Channel.

“When you want to raise the bar, the important thing is not to experience it with anxiety or the need to win at all costs. We should want to win, not feel that it’s obligatory or that we have to do everything straight away. We must enjoy our football and reach the result via good play.

“Self-confidence is positive and we showed that against Bologna, because we were trailing 3-1, but still kept believing in ourselves and fought back to win 4-3.”

While Sassuolo are flying high, Torino are bottom of the table with zero points from three games, and one fixture against Genoa postponed.

“Torino are still a work in progress and have a lot of very talented players. Marco Giampaolo is a friend, I have always admired him and results don’t change that. Starting a project from scratch cannot be compared to someone like me in my third year at a club.

“Besides, we are getting good results at the moment and scoring a lot of goals, but our performances have not been particularly sharp. We can do much better and play the kind of football I know we can. In this sport, we must always be in search of perfection.”
