Fiorentina defender Lorenzo De Silvestri has confirmed his desire to stay in Tuscany, rubbishing rumours of a summer transfer.

The 22-year-old has been linked in recent weeks with a €6m switch to Udinese, but he has denied such claims.

“The rumours about my future do not interest me. I feel good in Florence and I have a long contract that I want to respect,” said the Italian international.

“I've been very pleased with my four years here, which have been wonderful. I was also fortunate enough in my first year to play in the Champions League.”

De Silvestri went on to assess the 2010-11 campaign and reflect on his own struggles for form and fitness.

“I made some mistakes in the first half of the season before talking with the Coach and settling everything,” added the ex-Lazio player.

“Unfortunately it has been a negative season. I know I can improve and give more.

“In football, as in life, there are ups and downs. This will be a season for us to spring back from, an incentive for Fiorentina to start again.”
