Sebastien De Maio reveals why he left Anderlecht after just a few weeks for a move to Fiorentina. “I was sad and scared.”

The 29-year-old Frenchman was sold by Genoa to RSC Anderlecht on July 6 for €3.3m.

However, he surprisingly returned to Serie A with a loan to Fiorentina on August 18.

“I was sad, as life and football in Belgium are both very different to how I experienced them in Italy,” De Maio told news agency Ansa.

“I was sad, as life and football in Belgium are both very different to how I experienced them in Italy,” De Maio told news agency Ansa.

“I also had problems within my family, as my wife was afraid of living in Brussels after the terror attacks. This is why I decided to return to Italy.

“Fiorentina had already wanted me in January when I was at Genoa, but the two clubs could not agree terms.”
