In what could be perceived as a veiled criticism of Coach Rafa Benitez, the patron hit out at ‘nonsense words’ about a lack of spending.

The Spanish tactician has previously bemoaned the club’s lack of economic resources.

“Often the Neapolitan fans lose sight of reality, and are distracted by the dream of winning the Scudetto,” De Laurentiis told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“I’m forced to do something different, and I have no time for the nonsense words of those who accuse us of not spending on the transfer market.

“Last year we invested €98m, those are numbers which cannot be repeated every season, especially in view of the cost of refurbishing the stadium, which we’re doing next year.”
