The island, in the gulf of Naples was struck by a 4.0 magnitude tremor last night, with at least two people confirmed dead and reports that 1,500 have been left homeless.
“I am particulary sensitive to all that concerns Ischia,” De Laurentiis wrote on the Partenopei’s official website.

“It’s an island that I love both for its unique beauty and for the extraordinary intelligence and hospitality of the Ischitani.
“My sorrow goes to the victims and to the wounded from the earthquake and I stand by the relatives of the victims affected by the earthquake.”
