However, De Canio believes that the 2-1 success over Cagliari in Week 36 is the catalyst his players need to go to Udine on Sunday and not lose.

“Our fate depends on us, I told that to the guys after Wednesday’s game,” De Canio enthused on Genoa’s official website.

“Let’s focus on the journey that awaits us, trusting and believing that we can get a result in the remaining fixtures.

“The victory over Cagliari should boost this belief and trust. It was essential to achieve success against the Sardinians, we can now look forward with more serenity.”

With that win the Rossoblu extended the gap over 18th placed Lecce to three points.

“We must protect this advantage. Sunday will be a tough game against an opponent who is doing very well. But, we won’t leave there beaten.”
