Inter Coach Frank de Boer opens the door for Marcelo Brozovic, and assures Geoffrey Kondogbia “has everything to be a top player”.

The two midfielders have been a source of controversy, with the Croatian banished for his behaviour in the Europa League defeat to Hapoel Be’er Sheva and Kondogbia hooked after 28 minutes against Bologna.

“Brozovic? I’m happy that he played two games for Croatia,” De Boer told reporters in a Press conference in Monaco, where he is attending the Golden Foot awards.

“That was important, because he needed to get minutes in his legs. Now we’ll see how he is, in my opinion he’s a great player who can help us play better and win.

“It’s just a matter of time, he’s ours and it’s best that he play.

“As for Kondogbia, he’s young and in my opinion there are details which he has to improve. He has the physicality and the quality, it’s the details he has to work on.

“He’s like [Paul] Pogba, it’s the same role and he has to be able to win duels and play it simple.

“But in my opinion he has everything to be a top player.”

The Nerazzurri have been heavily linked with Matteo Darmian, but De Boer wouldn’t be drawn on the Manchester United full-back.

“I don’t want to talk about it. Naming names only creates problems and I won’t do it.”

Finally, the former Ajax Coach spared a thought for his former player Arkadiusz Milik after the Napoli striker ruptured his cruciate ligament on international duty.

“He’s a great player and a serious professional off the pitch,” De Boer said.

“It’s unfortunate that he was hurt, he was doing well at Napoli.”
