Inter could offer Mauro Icardi to Atletico Madrid in part-exchange for Spain striker David Villa.

According to Sport Mediaset, 32-year-old Villa is the latest forward on President Erick Thohir’s wish-list for next season.

He’d be more affordable than the other options, Chelsea’s Fernando Torres, Edin Dzeko of Manchester City and Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata.

The Spain veteran has recovered fully from a serious injury and scored 13 goals in 32 Liga games for Atleti this season.

The Nerazzurri also have a ready-made exchange, as Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone have been repeatedly linked with a bid for Icardi.

Villa is valued at around €13m, but could arrive with a cash sum if Icardi is sent to the Vicente Calderon.

Icardi has not entirely convinced Inter boss Walter Mazzarri and the club, as his goals are overshadowed by off the field issues.

The 21-year-old hitman suffered from a series of injury problems and continues to hit the headlines for his feud with Sampdoria star Maxi Lopez.

Icardi was his friend and they even went on family vacations together, but the younger man moved in with Maxi’s wife Wanda Nara.

Despite pleas from all sides to stop, Icardi is continuing to provoke and insult Maxi Lopez via Twitter and Inter are said to be running out of patience.

Tuttosport maintain the club has placed a €30m price-tag on the Argentine.
