Matteo Darmian insists it’s “not true” that Jose Mourinho doesn’t want him at Manchester United.

The full-back has been linked with a move to Inter in January, as he struggled to hold down a place in the United team at the start of the season.

However, injuries to Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw have seen the Italian international given his chance, and the former Torino man says there are no problems at Old Trafford.

However, injuries to Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw have seen the Italian international given his chance, and the former Torino man says there are no problems at Old Trafford.

“Jose Mourinho wanted to cast me out? I’ve read things like that, but I don’t think it’s true,” Darmian shrugged, speaking to Sky.

“I keep going on my way, working to improve and give the Coach a selection headache. I’m not thinking about the transfer market, it’s still too early.”

Darmian was speaking after arriving in Italy for international duty, and talked of his pride in wearing the Azzurri shirt.

“It’s always nice to be part of the Italy squad, it’s always good to represent my country and I’m very motivated to do so.

“When you’re not playing then it’s obvious there’s a risk of not being called, but I’ve kept working hard and I’ve played more in recent weeks.”
