CSKA Moscow are trying to tie Lazio target Keisuke Honda down to a new contract, even as his agent suggests a summer transfer is likely.

According to reports in Russia, CSKA are interested in renegotiating terms with Honda and are prepared to offer the Japanese attacking star a 50 per cent pay rise to €3m a year.

Honda was in talks to join Lazio in January and a move to Italy only fell through on the final day of the transfer market over a disagreement on the amount the Aquile would pay CSKA for the move.

Even with CSKA now pressing to keep Honda, reports are suggesting he is more likely to press for a move to Rome in the summer.

The player recently admitted he had hoped for the move in January, whilst his agent last week hinted that such a desire still remains.

“In the last year, Lazio was the only team seriously interested in Honda,” Kees Ploegsma confirmed.

“We were not able to transfer this winter, but let’s see what happens in June. Up to that point he remains a player of CSKA.”
