“During the half-time break, I went into the locker room to fire up the lads and he maintains this intervention delegitimised him.
“I thought it only right, because as President I have the right and the duty to intervene when things are not going well, to motivate the team.
“I respect the decision of the Coach, but I do not agree with it.”
Director general Raffaele Vrenna added the team was “stunned, but will be able to react.”
The search is on for a new Coach with the favourite being Stefano Colantuono.
