Zenit St Petersburg defender Domenico Criscito has admitted that he would like to return to Genoa one day.

The 27-year-olf left the Grifone in 2011 to sign for the Russian side, but the Italy international has conceded that he would love to come back to the Marassi.

“I have always said that one day I would like to return to Genoa,” he told reporters.

“I do not know when it will happen, but sooner or later I hope it does.”

Criscito then commented on what Gian Piero Gasperini’s men can achieve this season.

“We can try for Europe because there’s still a long way to go in this championship.

“For me, this team is stronger on paper than Parma or Torino, so I don’t see why they can’t go for Europe.

“Once they reach enough points to stay up, then an ambitious goal can possibly be achieved.”
