Italy and Zenit defender Domenico Criscito has confirmed he “will need surgery” for a snapped anterior cruciate ligament.
The full-back had already been suffering from a calf injury recently, but limped off during Zenit’s friendly with Siena on Thursday.
“The tests confirmed the anterior cruciate ligament has been broken, so I will need surgery,” wrote the 26-year-old on Twitter.
It means Criscito is likely to be out of action for four to six months and will therefore miss the Confederations Cup.
