This match has been organised at Marassi to raise funds for the victims of the Ponte Morandi disaster, as the iconic bridge collapsed on August 14, killing 43 people and leaving hundreds homeless.

At the 43rd minute of the game, play will be halted to honour the 43 victims, whose names will appear on the stadium screens.

Today, the squad visited the site of the tragedy and laid flowers.

“It is an honour to be here and we hope to give the people of Genoa something to smile about,” said Genoa defender Criscito in his Press conference.

Criscito had crossed over the bridge just 10 minutes before the collapse.

“It’s very important to play in my stadium with the Azzurri jersey. We can give the people joy, but it depends on what we do on the pitch.”

Sampdoria forward Caprari was also at the joint Press conference representing the two clubs in the city of Genoa.

“It’s important to be here and give a moment of joy to those who lost their loved ones. We hope to give them something to cheer tomorrow.”
