Cremonese are reportedly still going to give their backing to coach Massimiliano Alvini, despite failing to get a single Serie A victory this season.

The club has to consider his position after dropping down to the foot of the table, overtaken by Verona following a 2-0 defeat at the Stadio Bentegodi last night.

Promoted from Serie B somewhat surprisingly last summer, their coach Fabio Pecchia decided to walk away for a new challenge.

Alvini was hired for his first ever Serie A campaign and so far it has been a dire return of just seven points from 17 rounds.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Cremonese are nonetheless ready to again support Alvini and are not yet looking for a replacement.

Options to take over would include Davide Ballardini, Roberto D’Aversa, Beppe Iachini or Leonardo Semplici, all of whom are currently out of contract.

In what many took to be a sign of things to come, D’Aversa was spotted in the stands for the defeat to Verona last night.

Sportitalia maintain that Ballardini has already turned down the Cremonese job.
