Cremonese have reached the midway stage of the season without leading for a single minute, as it’s reported the club has contacted Davide Ballardini to take over from Massimiliano Alvini.

The newly-promoted club stood by their coach for longer than most would in the circumstances, considering they are rock bottom of the Serie A table and the only team without any wins.

Incredibly, the statistics show that not only have Cremonese not won a game this season in Serie A, they have not spent a single minute in a leading situation either.

Nobody had achieved such a negative result since Ancona in 2003-04.

In the three points for a win era, only Ancona with five in 2003-04 and Benevento with one in 2017-18 had fewer points than Cremonese’s seven at the midway point.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and more, this is the end of the road for coach Alvini, who was experiencing the first Serie A campaign of his career.

Cremonese are in negotiations with former Genoa boss Ballardini, but have not yet reached an agreement.

Other alternatives are believed to include ex-Sampdoria and Parma coach Roberto D’Aversa.
