Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score against Lazio, but newspaper Tuttosport are being mocked for claiming he ‘assisted’ a Juventus goal.

The Bianconeri won 2-0 in their first home game of the season on Saturday evening, with goals from Miralem Pjanic and Mario Mandzukic.

All eyes were on CR7 on his domestic debut in a Juve jersey and he was about to score a tap-in from three yards when he accidentally kicked it on to his other foot.

All eyes were on CR7 on his domestic debut in a Juve jersey and he was about to score a tap-in from three yards when he accidentally kicked it on to his other foot.

The ball ricocheted into the path of Mandzukic to fire in undisturbed.

However, the write-up in Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport described it as “a back-heel assist from Cristiano Ronaldo.”

This prompted some mockery online from both non-Juve fans and supporters of the Old Lady.

It didn’t seem to bother Ronaldo too much, as this morning he posted on Instagram that he was back in the gym less than 24 hours after the match.

The statistics back his confidence, because last season he needed four appearances before breaking his Liga duck with Real Madrid.
