The ‘R’ rate – the number of people each infected person passes the virus on to, on average – is still more than 1 in Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna and Lazio.
Umbria is the only region where the ‘R’ rate is 0, while Basilicata, Valle d’Aosta, Sardinia, Bolzano and Sicily have all reported no new cases.

It comes as schools in the country will be allowed to reopen on September 14 with teachers and students obliged to undergo tests and keep one metre away from each other in classrooms.
As of Friday, there have been 239,961 positive tests of COVID-19 (+259), with 17,638 of them currently active (-665).
A total of 187,615 people have recovered (+890) and 34,708 have died.
Out of the 17,638 active cases, 16,177 are in self-isolation (-129), 1,386 are in hospital with symptoms (-129) and 105 are in intensive care (+2).
There have now been 5,215,922 tests, an increase of 52,768 since yesterday.
