There were another 34 coronavirus deaths in Italy on Thursday, amidst a minor rise in new cases.

The daily death toll has increased by four in 24 hours, while there were 106 more positive tests compared to yesterday’s tally of 190.

The rise in new cases can be explained by those in the epicentre of Lombardy doubling, as well as outbreaks in the towns of Bologna (Emilia-Romagna) and Mondragone (Campania).

As of Thursday, there have been 239,706 positive tests of COVID-19 (+296), with 18,304 of them currently active (-918).

As of Thursday, there have been 239,706 positive tests of COVID-19 (+296), with 18,304 of them currently active (-918).

A total of 186,725 people have recovered (+614) and 34,678 have died.

Out of the 18,304 active cases, 16,938 are in self-isolation (-253), 1,515 are in hospital with symptoms (-95) and 103 are in intensive care (-4).

There have now been 5,163,154 tests, an increase of 56,061 since yesterday.
